Christian Kjellvander rocks

Since I got really sick last friday, I missed Christian Kjellvander playing live at Debaser Medis. Luckily, the awesome Andreas Ivarsson were happy to write about the occation. Here it is!

The other night, Swedish singer-songwriter Christian Kjellvander played at Debaser Medis in Stockholm. He has been one of my favourite artists since 2001, and I was excited to see him perform - the first time I've seen him live in four years. The new album "The Rough and Rynge" got pretty good reviews when it came out in November, so my expectations were very high.

EP Trailer Park was Kjellvander's supporting act, and they play Band of Horses-ish music, and of course all  band members have beards! The band was good, and had a nice sound from the organ and violin.

After 30 minutes of beard-rock it was time for Christian Kjellvander and his band. My experience of Kjellvander live is that he's similar to his albums: soft singer-songwriter with a touch of country. This concert however was not like his albums; it was more rock than I ever would have expected from Kjellvander -  the crowd was even headbanging!

Kjellvander's music has evolved with his latest album, and so have his live performances. If you have the chance to go see him live, you should definitely do so!

It's good, it's bearded and it's belgian - Isbells

You probably remember José Gonzales version of Heartbeats for Sony Bravia's tv commercial with all the rubber balls bouncing down the streets of San Fransisco. Well, how could you possibly forget? Belgian band Isbells make the same kind of wonderful Lo-Fi-singer-songwriter pop songs that seems to be destined for tv commercials. Apparently Isbells is a hidden secret outside of Belgium, as not even Pitchfork seems to know anything about them. In short, chances are quite good that you will be the first in your gang to know, use it wisely.
